Under a heavy bench press, overhead press or weighted dip, the wrist wants to bend backward behind the forearm. When it does, the load stops travelling straight down the forearm bones and starts working against the joint instead. A wrap closes around the joint and holds it where the lifter put it, which is why lifters describe the press as feeling solid rather than loose.
How much of that is measurable? In a 2024 randomised crossover trial, eighteen resistance-trained men and women did bench press one-repetition maximum tests wearing a flexible wrap, a stiff wrap and no wrap. Neither wrap changed maximal strength, power or velocity. What did change was how the lifters rated the wrist: wraps were reported as significantly more stable than no wrap, in both sexes, with no difference between styles (Harris et al., J Strength Cond Res, 2024). The MSW09 changes how the wrist feels and behaves under load. It does not add weight to the bar.
This is the most common buying mistake in the category, and at sampling stage it costs a full production run.
A wrap stabilises a joint; a strap replaces a failing grip, and serious lifters carry both. “Wrist straps” is a loose trade term for either, so judge a product by what it physically does rather than by the words on the listing. If your requirement is joint support for a nerve condition rather than a training aid, see our ultra-thin breathable carpal tunnel wrist brace.
The wrap body is SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) foam laminated to polyester and nylon. The foam spreads pressure across a wider band of the wrist, the knit face takes a tight stitch, and the laminate stays dimensionally stable so repeated tension does not leave the band stretched out after a dozen sessions. The hook-and-loop strip is what makes one size workable: the lifter sets tension on each wrist and changes it between warm-up and working sets without a second product.
Two points for a buyer’s compliance team:
Primarily barbell and dumbbell pressing: bench press, incline press, overhead press, push press, dips, and front squats where the wrists are bent back under the bar. Outside the gym it is used in racket sports, on the bike where the wrap reduces pressure through the heel of the hand, and in manual work that keeps the wrist loaded through the day.
We manufacture on our own line, so customisation is a production question rather than a trading one: logo print or embroidery, custom colour and stitch colour, custom band length and width, and retail packaging to your artwork. The commercial parameters a buyer needs in order to quote internally — MOQ, sample lead time, production lead time, inner and outer packaging, carton dimensions and port of loading. Their absence from the current page is the main reason a B2B buyer has to open a conversation before they can price anything.
They are wrist wraps. They close around the wrist only and never attach to the bar, so they support the wrist during pressing rather than assisting grip during pulling. For deadlifts and rows you need lifting straps, which is a different product.
Firm enough to hold the wrist stacked under load, loose enough that nothing goes numb. Tighten for working sets, loosen between them, and never sleep in one. Wrap the working sets rather than the warm-ups, so the wrist still does some work of its own.
Yes — logo print or embroidery, custom colour, custom length and retail packaging. Send the artwork and target market and we will come back with tooling and MOQ.
The MSW09 is the only sports wrap in the range; every other wrist item is an orthopaedic device with rigid or semi-rigid support. The advanced orthopaedics wrist brace and the aluminium wrist support hold a joint at a set angle. The MSW09 does not, and it is sold as training equipment.
Send us the specification you are working to — band length, width, closure type, colour and packaging — and we will confirm what we can produce from existing tooling and what needs a new sample round. If the requirement is close to the standard MSW09, samples turn quickly so you can test the fit before committing. You can also see the full wrist brace and wrist support range or read our guide to choosing wrist support for sport.
