Orthopedic CAM Air Walker MSE04 | OEM & ODM Manufacturer

What the MSE04 CAM Air Walker Is

The MSE04 is a semi-rigid short-leg walker boot built for buyers who need ankle and foot immobilisation with controlled compression but without an adjustable range-of-motion hinge. The shell is a single-piece molded plastic that holds the ankle in a fixed position once the straps are done up, and the pneumatic liner adds a medial and a lateral air bladder that inflate to mould the compression around the leg. It is the model to specify when the prescription is stabilise and unload rather than control the angle during recovery.

For a buyer sourcing from a Chinese orthopaedic manufacturer, the practical way to describe this SKU is: a static CAM walker (the abbreviation stands for Controlled Ankle Motion — the shell itself defines the angle, there is no dial to change it), with a pair of air bladders for compression, a low-profile rocker sole, and a removable toe guard. If your buyer needs a dial-adjustable angle, that is a different SKU — see the air cam walker boot MSE06 for an aluminum upright ROM hinge, or the air ROM walker boot MSE08 for a dial-stepped ROM.

Construction and Materials

Six construction details matter when you specify this for a retail or hospital programme.

Semi-rigid molded shell. The shell is a one-piece plastic moulding, light, ventilated by cut-outs along the medial and lateral sides, and shaped to hold the ankle at a fixed angle once the closure is done up. The ventilation is a real product feature — without it the boot becomes a heat trap.

Medial and lateral air bladders. Two inflatable bladders sit inside the liner, one on each side of the ankle, inflated by mouth through a small valve on the front of the boot. Their job is to add compression that adapts to the swelling pattern of the day, which is what separates the pneumatic CAM walker from a foam-only fixed walker.

Rocker sole. The outsole has a curved rocker geometry that promotes a natural heel-to-toe gait and shortens the relearning period when the patient transitions back to ordinary footwear.

Shock-absorbing insole. The footbed sits on a foam layer that reduces the impact of the heel strike. In the wholesale specification this is a separate component from the rocker sole; itemise it as its own layer on the customs declaration rather than merging it into the shell material.

Breathable fitted contoured liner. The inner liner is cut and sewn to match the shell, with breathable fabric panels along the front of the tibia and the dorsal foot. The liner is removable for washing.

Removable toe protection. The toe cap is a separate piece that clips onto the front of the shell and is removed when the patient transitions from protected ambulation to ordinary footwear — pull the cap off and the boot becomes a normal-looking CAM walker.

Material composition for this SKU is listed in our product data as Plastic, Foam, TPU. TPU here is the thermoplastic polyurethane used in the rocker sole and the air bladder film. The exact fibre breakdown of the liner and any latex content of the bladder film are not published on the current page and need to be confirmed against the factory specification before you print a fibre label, a customs description or an EU market-compliance view. the specification block lists three materials but does not state which layer each one refers to; this feeds a fibre label, a customs declaration and a latex-allergy assessment under EU MDR. Do not print a composition until the factory confirms each layer.

Indications

The MSE04 cam air walker is specified for stable foot and ankle injuries where the goal is immobilisation and controlled compression rather than adjustable range-of-motion control.

  • Grade II and III ankle sprains.
  • Stable fractures of the foot and ankle (calcaneus, talus, fibula, medial malleolus) once the acute phase has passed.
  • Post-operative rehabilitation of the foot and ankle.
  • Soft-tissue injuries and post-ligament repair where controlled compression is indicated.

One point has to be stated plainly. The MSE04 is a support device, not a medical device and not a treatment. It immobilises and compresses; it does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Any claim of that kind needs clinical evidence and a different regulatory route. If your market requires a medical device classification for the product you intend to sell, tell us before development starts.

Sizing and Fit

Four sizes are offered: S, M, L and XL. The leg and foot measurements for each size are not published on the current product data and we are not going to invent them — ask for the size chart before you commit a range to a retailer, because a wrong size chart is the most common reason a CAM walker programme gets returned.

  • Size S
  • Size M
  • Size L
  • Size XL

Custom sizing outside this range is available on request.

Who This Walker Is For

The MSE04 suits three buying programmes, and we will say plainly where it does not fit.

It suits hospital and orthopaedic clinic procurement where the prescription is stable fracture or post-operative immobilisation but the patient does not need a dial-set ROM. It suits retail pharmacy programmes where the buyer wants a single CAM walker SKU to cover most ankle sprains and stable fractures. And it suits occupational health and sports medicine programmes where the requirement is « offload the joint and walk » rather than « control the angle ».

It does not fit a buyer who needs the patient to start range-of-motion exercise inside the boot during recovery — that is what MSE06 and MSE08 are for. And it does not fit a buyer who needs a soft, low-bulk sleeve rather than a rigid shell — that is the knee and ankle brace category, not the CAM walker category.

How to Fit, Wear and Care for the MSE04

The boot is worn over a sock or a light stockinette, not directly against the skin. Sit the patient on a chair with the knee at right angles. Slide the foot into the boot, seat the heel against the back of the shell, and fasten the straps toe-to-knee — snug, not tight. Inflate the air bladders by mouth through the valve until the compression feels even on both sides. The patient stands and walks with the rocker sole engaging at the heel.

Remove the liner daily for airing. Hand-wash the liner in mild soap, rinse, and line dry away from direct heat. Do not machine wash the shell — wipe it down with a damp cloth and a mild disinfectant. Do not tumble dry the liner, since heat damages the air bladder film and the foam insole. Replace the bladder if it loses pressure overnight, because a soft bladder is the most common cause of the boot feeling loose after a week of wear.

OEM, ODM and Customization

Medisolemates has manufactured orthopaedic and medical support products in Shenzhen since 2010. The factory, the cutting room and the packaging line are on one site, which is what makes a low-MOQ colour run and a quick sample turnaround realistic for a CAM walker like this.

Customization available on this model  the following list reflects standard requests we handle; confirm each against the current quotation for this SKU before offering it to a customer :

  • Size run extension beyond the S/M/L/XL catalogue
  • Custom colour and colour-matching across a reorder

  • Private-label sewing labels
  • Custom packaging and carton marking
  • Sampling before bulk production

MOQ, lead time and price depend on the size run, colour count and packaging, and are quoted per programme. Send us the specification you need and we will come back with a quotation. Enquiries submitted through this page are answered within 12 hours.

Quality and Conformity

Medisolemates holds ISO 13485 certification for its quality management system, and holds CE conformity and FDA registration references covering the product range. The full certificate set, material test reports and carton marking templates are supplied with the quotation rather than published on this page, because certificate scope has to match the specific model and the specific market.

the wording of the certificates block on this product page lists FDA, CE, ISO13485 as “Certificates”. ISO 13485 is a quality-system certification held by the legal entity; CE is a conformity marking and FDA is normally a registration or listing rather than a certificate. Confirm the exact wording you want to use per market before publishing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does CAM mean in a walker boot?

CAM is short for Controlled Ankle Motion. In a CAM walker the shell itself holds the ankle at a fixed angle; the abbreviation refers to the controlled immobilisation the shell provides. In a ROM walker, by contrast, the ankle angle is adjustable through a dial or a stepped hinge, and the abbreviation means Range Of Motion. The MSE04 is a CAM walker — the shell defines the angle and there is no dial to change it.

What is the difference between the MSE04 and the MSE06?

Both are air CAM walkers. The MSE04 is a static CAM: the shell defines the angle and there is no ROM adjustment. The MSE06 is an adjustable CAM: it adds aluminum uprights with a flexion limit, so the buyer can lock the ankle at a specific angle or set a controlled range of motion. Specify MSE04 when the patient needs to be immobilised at a single angle. Specify MSE06 when the patient needs to start range-of-motion exercise inside the boot during recovery.

What is the difference between the MSE04 and the MSE05?

The MSE05 is an inflatable walker boot with two built-in hand pumps integrated into the shell — the buyer inflates both sides manually, without a separate hand pump. The MSE04 cam air walker has medial and lateral air bladders that are inflated by mouth through a valve on the front. The MSE04 also adds a removable toe guard and comes in an XL size that the MSE05 does not. Specify MSE04 when removable toe protection and an XL size run matter. Specify MSE05 when the buyer wants a one-piece boot with no separate inflation step.

What is the difference between the MSE04 and the MSE08?

The MSE08 is an air ROM walker: it adds a ROM hinge with 7.5° steps between 45° plantarflexion and 45° dorsiflexion. The MSE04 is a static CAM walker without a ROM hinge. Specify MSE08 when the prescription includes progressive range-of-motion exercise. Specify MSE04 when immobilisation at a single angle is the goal.

Is the MSE04 a medical device?

It depends on the market and on how the product is presented. In the EU, a CAM walker marketed as a support for stable fractures and post-operative rehabilitation can be classified as a medical device under MDR 2017/745; the same product marketed as a sports accessory is not. The classification drives conformity assessment, technical documentation and labelling. If your market requires a medical device route for the product you intend to sell, tell us before development starts.

Can the toe guard be removed?

Yes. The toe protection is a separate piece that clips onto the front of the shell and is removed during the transition from protected ambulation to ordinary footwear. Removing it does not affect the immobilisation of the ankle.

Do you supply the MSE04 under our own label?

Yes. Custom colour, branded hang tags and backing cards, private-label sewing labels, custom retail packaging and carton marking are all available. MOQ depends on the size run and colour count and is quoted per programme.

Why Buyers Source the MSE04 from Medisolemates

Three reasons, stated plainly.

The catalogue covers the whole decision tree. The MSE02 is the fixed walker with no air. The MSE04 is the static cam air walker with air bladders. The MSE06 is the adjustable CAM walker with air and aluminum uprights. The MSE08 is the air ROM walker with dial-stepped ROM. A distributor can carry the full post-operative ankle walker range from one supplier, on one certificate set, one slider tool and one packaging language.

The supply chain is short. Cutting, assembly and packing are on one site in Shenzhen, which is what makes small colour runs and sample-led development practical.

The documentation sits on the buyer’s side of the table. Material test reports, the certificate set, the size chart and the carton marking template all travel with the order.
