Foam Cervical Collar MSC06

The MSW06 foam cervical collar is a soft neck brace built on a moulded foam core, supplied with a removable PP support plate that seats into the front panel. With the plate fitted it works as a semi-rigid neck support; with the plate out it is a plain soft collar. That single decision separates it from the rest of our range, and it is why distributors carry this model instead of stocking a soft collar and a firmer one in the same size run.

Why Buyers Source This Collar from Medisolemates

Shenzhen Medisolemates has manufactured orthopaedic supports since 2010, supplying medical retailers, distributors and healthcare institutions. We are a manufacturer rather than a trading company, which is what makes the removable-plate configuration practical: the plate and the foam pocket are tooled together, so a custom plate is a mould change rather than a sourcing exercise.

What the MSW06 Foam Cervical Collar Is

The collar is a shaped ring of moulded foam, wrapped in a skin-friendly composite cloth cover and closed at the back with a hook-and-loop strap. The foam is contoured rather than flat: it rises at the front into a V that cradles the point of the chin, and the front panel carries a smooth inner surface where the support plate sits.

The back is deliberately different. Instead of the rigid occipital shelf found on a Philadelphia-style collar, the MSW06 uses a soft knitted rear panel under the closure strap, which keeps the collar light and foldable and keeps pressure off the base of the skull. Where a rigid rear shelf is needed, our Philadelphia-style cervical collar MSC01 has moulded occipital and mandibular posts and a tracheotomy opening.

One Collar, Two Support Levels

  • Plate fitted — the front panel stiffens, so the collar resists more forward and backward head movement. This matches the trade description of a semi-rigid cervical collar: a soft outer layer over a rigid insert.
  • Plate removed — the collar behaves as an ordinary foam neck collar. It reduces the extremes of movement without resisting them the way the plate does.

For a distributor the commercial point is range size: one SKU, one three-size run, one carton line, two support levels. Where a line needs a fully rigid collar, the rigid collar MSC07 is a moulded PVC shell with ventilation holes, and the adjustable cervical collar MSC02 uses a multi-position clip in a single universal size.

Features at a Glance

  • Shaped V front that cradles the chin and spreads contact across the jaw line
  • Removable PP support plate, hand-fitted into the front panel
  • Hook-and-loop closure at the back, adjustable through the full strap overlap
  • Skin-friendly composite cloth cover over a soft knitted rear panel
  • Moulded foam core, lightweight and foldable for flat packing

Sizing and Fitting

The MSW06 comes in S, M and L. A cervical collar is sized by the distance from the point of the chin to the top of the sternum with the head looking straight ahead — that measurement, not circumference, sets the collar’s front height and therefore how much it limits forward head movement. A collar that is too tall lifts the chin; one that is too short lets the chin drop below the rim.

How It Is Worn and Cared For

Centre the chin in the V at the front, bring the strap around the back of the neck and press it onto the loop face. The fit is set by how far the two ends are pressed together rather than by discrete settings.

  • The collar should sit comfortably, not tightly. A soft collar allows some movement, so over-tightening adds pressure rather than restriction.
  • The cover wipes clean with a damp cloth. Do not soak the foam core — the plate pocket holds water.

A neck collar is a support garment, not a treatment. It changes the mechanical load on the neck by limiting movement and by carrying part of the head’s weight through the collar rather than through the neck muscles. Choosing a support level is a clinical decision made by the prescriber, which is why the collar ships with a removable plate: the level can be changed without changing the product.

Custom branded orders run 14–25 days; standard orders 5–25 days depending on quantity. Our cervical collar manufacturing page covers customisation across the whole neck brace line, and the full orthopaedic brace range covers the other body areas we mould.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the MSW06 foam cervical collar have a rigid support?

Yes, optionally. A PP support plate is fitted into the front panel and can be removed. With the plate in, the collar is a semi-rigid cervical collar; with the plate out, it is a plain foam collar.

What is the difference between a soft and a semi-rigid cervical collar?

A soft cervical collar is foam throughout and allows a limited range of head movement in every direction. A semi-rigid collar adds a rigid insert inside the soft shell, usually at the front, so forward and backward movement is resisted more than side-to-side movement.

How do I size a foam cervical collar?

Measure from the point of the chin to the top of the sternum with the head level and looking straight ahead. That distance sets the front height of the collar, which decides whether the chin rests in the V or sits above the rim

Can a foam cervical collar be worn while sleeping?

That is a clinical decision, not a product limitation. Whether it should be is decided by the treating clinician, because a collar worn for long unbroken periods changes how the neck muscles are loaded.

What is the minimum order quantity for wholesale foam neck collars?

500 pieces per model, with mixed orders accepted from 2000 pieces total across models. Samples are available before a bulk order and the cost is refunded against the first one.
