Inflatable Cervical Traction Collar MSC04

The cervical traction collar MSC04 is an inflatable neck device: three stacked air chambers inside a velvet cover, filled by a hand pump and released through a valve. Worn around the neck, the chambers expand upwards and lift the head — that lift is the entire mechanism. It comes in one universal adult size, in black or blue.

Why Buyers Source This Device from Medisolemates

Medisolemates has manufactured orthopaedic and medical support products in Shenzhen since 2010, with five of those years on heat-moulding insoles. The neck range is one of eleven product families, so a distributor can build a container from the wearable air device, the lay-on device, the hammock and the collar family on one set of terms rather than four, and the range is produced to a common documentation set. To test the inflation, the valve and the cover on your own samples, send us your requirement with the market you sell into.

What the MSC04 Cervical Traction Collar Is

MSC04 is a circumferential air collar. Three ring-shaped chambers are stacked one above the other, each covered in velvet, joined to a single air tube that runs to a hand pump bulb at one end and a blue plastic slide valve at the other, with a spiral metal valve at the bulb.

The collar is worn the way a soft collar is worn — around the neck, resting on the shoulders — but it does nothing until it is pumped. Inflating raises the vertical height of the chambers, pushing the chin and the base of the skull apart and stretching the neck. Deflating returns it to a flat ring, which is why it packs into a bag.

The page calls this product a traction pillow. Nothing in the photos is a pillow: all three images show a collar worn on the neck, and a pillow is the opposite kind of product — something the head rests on. See §9 for the naming question.

How the Air Chambers and Hand Pump Work

Squeezing the bulb pushes air through the tube into all three chambers at once. Because the chambers are stacked, the collar grows taller rather than wider, which is the direction that separates head from shoulders. The blue slide valve holds pressure when closed and dumps it when opened; the spiral metal valve at the bulb is the second release point.

Two limits belong in any instruction sheet. Pressure is set by hand and is not calibrated, so inflate slowly and stop at the first feeling of stretch rather than pumping to a target. And the collar is used in sessions of about ten to twenty minutes while sitting or lying, not worn all day, because the mechanism works by continuous lift rather than by support.

Where This Device Sits Against the Rest of the Range

Three devices in this range address the neck by traction, and the names do not make the difference obvious.

MSC04 is the wearable one: put on, pumped, used in a session, taken off. The air pump neck stretcher MSC03 sits the other way round — the device rests on a surface and the neck is laid onto its air columns. The portable neck stretcher hammock MSC08 suspends the head in a sling instead, so the force comes from body weight rather than from air.

None of the three immobilises the neck. If a customer wants movement restricted rather than a neck stretched, the cervical collar category holds the soft, semi-rigid and rigid models.

Features at a Glance

  • Three stacked air chambers in a velvet cover
  • Hand pump bulb with a spiral metal valve
  • Blue plastic slide valve for pressure release
  • Single air tube with a chamber connector
  • Grows in height rather than width when inflated; packs flat when deflated
  • Universal adult size; black or blue cover

The current page lists Adjustable Nylon Straps as a feature, but no strap appears in any of the three photos and the material line names only velvet

Materials and Specification

  • Item No.: MSC04
  • Cover: velvet
  • Chambers: inflatable bladders, material not stated
  • Inflation: hand pump bulb, spiral metal valve, blue slide valve
  • Connection: air tube with chamber connector
  • Colour: black, blue
  • Size: universal
  • Certificates: FDA, CE, ISO 13485

The material line names the cover and stops there, which leaves out the one material that decides how this product may be labelled.

The inner bladder material is not stated anywhere. Inflatable neck collars of this type are commonly built on natural rubber latex bladders. If MSC04 uses latex it carries a mandatory allergy warning in the EU and in several other markets and must be kept away from latex-sensitive users; if it uses a TPU or PVC bladder instead, that is a selling point in a category where buyers ask about latex first. Either way, Velvet is not the answer — this is the highest-priority item in §9.

The closure is not described. No fastening method appears in the specification and no strap appears in the photos, so it is unclear whether the collar is held by the inflated ring alone and whether it can be loosened without deflating.

The velvet cover is good for comfort and poor for a hospital environment, because it cannot be wiped down the way a vinyl surface can. If a wipeable cover exists as an option it should be listed as one.

How the Cervical Traction Collar Is Used and Cared For

The collar goes on deflated, is adjusted on the shoulders, then pumped in slow increments until the neck feels stretched rather than compressed. Sessions run about ten to twenty minutes; it is deflated and removed afterwards.

Care is simple because there are no electronics: wipe the velvet cover with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, dry it fully before storing, and keep the device away from sharp edges and prolonged sunlight, both of which shorten the life of an air bladder. Check the tube and the valve seats periodically, because a slow leak is the usual mode of failure.

OEM, ODM and Private Label

MSC04 is supplied for own-brand programmes: chamber count and height, cover material and colour, pump and valve type, air tube length, packaging in polybag or printed box, and your own care and warning text applied to your artwork. Because the cover is the visible part of the device, printed covers and branded packaging are the two changes buyers ask for most.

Send the artwork and the target market and we will confirm which items are standard and which need setup.

Quality, Certification and Documentation

The page states FDA, CE and ISO 13485, and for an inflatable device the three mean different things: ISO 13485 certifies the quality management system of a legal entity, CE is a conformity marking applied under the applicable EU regulation, and FDA status is normally a registration or listing rather than a product certificate.

This product type also needs documents the page does not reference: a material declaration for the bladder and the cover, a biocompatibility statement for skin-contact materials, a pressure or leak test result for the assembled chamber, and label artwork with the required warnings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MSC04 a cervical traction pillow or a collar?

A collar. It is worn around the neck and pumped until the chambers lift the head, which is the definition of a traction collar. A traction pillow is the opposite kind of product — something the head rests on, usually a contoured foam wedge. The page title uses “pillow”, which points at the wrong product.

How long should a cervical traction collar be worn?

About ten to twenty minutes per session, sitting or lying down, with the collar deflated and removed afterwards. Pressure is set by hand and is not calibrated, so inflate slowly and stop at the first feeling of stretch rather than pumping to a target.

Is the inner bladder natural rubber latex?

The page does not say, and the material line names only the velvet cover. Inflatable neck collars of this type are often built on latex bladders, and latex brings a mandatory allergy warning in the EU and in several other markets, so the bladder material must be confirmed before the page is published with a material specification.

What neck size does a universal cervical traction collar fit?

MSC04 is a single universal adult size, and the page does not publish the circumference band it covers. Comparable devices quote roughly 17 to 24 inches, so the measured range for this model should be added before it is used in a comparison table.

Does a cervical traction collar relieve neck pain?

The device stretches the neck, and that is what a page can state. The Cochrane review of mechanical traction for neck pain found seven randomised trials with 958 participants, only one of which had a low risk of bias, and no significant difference between traction and placebo traction.

What is the minimum order quantity for an inflatable neck traction collar?

500 pieces per model at stock colours, with mixed orders from 2,000 pieces across the range. Lead time is 5 to 25 days for stock colours and 14 to 25 days where your own branding is applied.
