The memory foam collar MSC05 is a soft neck support: a shaped foam core in a knitted stockinette cover, closed at the back by a hook and loop strip that overlaps on itself, so one collar covers a band of neck circumferences with no buckle or strap. It is the plainest and softest model in the Medisolemates neck range, and the one most distributors list as a first-line soft collar for pharmacy, home care and clinic retail shelves.
Medisolemates has been a Shenzhen orthopaedic and medical support manufacturer since 2010, with five of those years on heat-moulding insoles. The neck range is one of eleven product families, which matters for a practical reason: a supplier that already makes the soft, the semi-rigid and the rigid collar can quote a mixed container instead of three separate minimum orders. Every model in the range is produced to the same documentation set, so an audit pack assembled for one SKU covers most of the next.
To check the foam, cover and closure on your own samples, send us your requirement with the market you sell into.
MSC05 is a circumferential soft collar. A shaped foam core sits inside a knitted cover, with a front scoop the chin rests in and a hook and loop strip at the back that closes the collar and sets how tightly it sits.
Because the foam is soft and the closure overlaps, the collar limits sharp end-of-range neck movement while leaving ordinary head movement intact. That is the mechanical job of a soft collar: a reminder and a light restraint, not an immobiliser. The knit matters too — foam against bare skin traps moisture within a couple of hours, and the knitted outer layer is what makes the collar wearable for a working day.
Four entries need a value before the page can carry them as specifications.
The core reads only Foam, while the product is named and sold as a memory foam collar. Memory foam is viscoelastic polyurethane — it reacts to body heat, rebounds slowly and holds its shape. Plain PE or PU foam rebounds immediately and flattens faster. Two products at two price points, and a distributor comparing quotes will assume the cheaper one unless the page says which it is.
The cover is written as knitted fabric in the specification line while the description on the same page calls it a cotton stockinette covering. One names a construction, the other a fibre, and a buyer building a private label needs the fibre. The foam density is not stated anywhere; it decides rebound, lifespan and landed cost, and it is the first number a sourcing engineer asks for. The closure is written as Velcro, a brand name — label copy and customs descriptions should read hook and loop.
Three sizes are offered: S, M and L. Front height — collarbone to jaw — is fixed by the moulded core; circumference is set by how far the hook and loop strip overlaps, which lets one collar per size cover a band of neck measurements rather than a single number.
Fitting is a two-step check: the lower edge rests on the collarbone and the upper edge supports the jaw without pressing into the ear, and one finger slides between the collar and the skin. If the chin rides above the front edge the collar is the wrong height, not the wrong length, and the next size up is the answer. If it gaps at the back while tight at the front, refit it sitting upright rather than reclined.
The cervical collar category holds five support products and three traction devices. What decides which soft collar to stock is support level.
MSC05 is pure soft support: foam and knit, nothing rigid anywhere. The next step up is the foam cervical collar MSC06, built the same way but carrying a removable polypropylene plate in the front panel — plate out, it behaves like a soft collar; plate in, it becomes semi-rigid. Above both sit the rigid models: the Philadelphia-style collar MSC01 with its tracheotomy opening and moulded struts, and the adjustable cervical collar MSC02 with stepped height adjustment. Neither is a soft collar.
MSC05 is the entry point of that ladder — the model to quote when comfort, price and volume matter more than restriction.
A soft collar is worn for sessions, not indefinitely. It is hand washable: the foam core is wiped clean and the collar does not go in a machine.
Two notes come from clinical practice rather than the workshop. A collar acts as a reminder as much as a restraint, so it should be fitted loosely enough that the wearer still uses their neck muscles for ordinary movement. And the longer a soft collar is worn continuously, the more those muscles come to rely on it — which is why clinical guidance treats collars as a defined-period adjunct rather than long-term equipment.
MSC05 is a support garment. It restricts movement and gives mild support to the neck; it does not treat anything.
That matters commercially. In the EU a product presented as preventing, treating or alleviating disease can be treated as a medical device, and the manufacturer then carries the conformity-assessment obligations that follow from the classification. Collar claims should describe mechanical function — supports, reminds, limits sharp movement — and leave diagnosis and treatment with a clinician. The same rule governs materials: memory foam is a material description, relieves neck pain is a therapeutic claim.
MSC05 is supplied for own-brand programmes with the usual variables: cover colour and composition, hook and loop tape width and overlap, size range, packaging in polybag, printed header card or retail box, and your own care symbols and warning text applied to your artwork.
Send the artwork and the target market and we will confirm which items are standard and which carry a tooling or print setup charge.
The product is named and supplied as a memory foam collar, but the specification line reads only Foam. Memory foam is viscoelastic polyurethane and behaves differently from standard PE or PU foam in rebound and shape retention, so confirm the type before the page states it.
Both are foam collars with a knitted cover and the same three sizes. MSC06 adds a removable polypropylene plate in the front panel, which makes it semi-rigid when the plate is fitted; MSC05 has no rigid component at all. Stock MSC05 for soft support and MSC06 where a customer wants both levels from one SKU.
Measure the neck circumference at its widest point, then check the collar’s front height against the distance from the collarbone to the jaw. If the chin sits above the front edge, move up a size — height decides the size, and the hook and loop closure absorbs the rest.
It can be worn overnight, and the knitted cover is the reason it stays tolerable that long. Clinical guidance still treats collars as a short-term adjunct rather than long-term equipment.
A collar restricts movement and supports the neck; those are mechanical functions. Whether the product is placed on the market as a medical device depends on the claims made for it and on the market, not on the collar itself.
